Improve the qualifications and change the mentality
The Aurassi hotel “most landscaped hotel in Alger” has been rehabilitated from the start. In order to do so, the hotel closed down for 2 years. The infrastructure and equipment rehabilitation was done along with improving the human resources department. Far from being dismissed or put into compulsory leave, different workers (including 726 permanent workers and 200 workers with a contract for a total of 453 rooms) were offered skills training to enable them to support the renewal of the hotel. Indeed, the qualifications had to be upgraded which goes along with the attitude change of the staff. The staff has to do the right job that leads to the customer satisfaction. This is essential to this new rehabilitation otherwise “it would be like we haven’t done anything new”
Competition
“Nowadays, we have to look for and find our own customers so we can satisfy and make the customer loyal to us” the international hotel chains are now present in Algeria which leads us to be more competitive in such a market. Be competitive or don’t be at all “affirms Ali Djemaa. According to Ali Djemaa, the Algerian quality tourism plan is a good opportunity for the Algerian tourism. The hotel management is fully involved in this quality process by participating in the development of the quality national repository in the hotel industry. “ we are fully into this, as I am speaking there is a training program going on in the purpose of getting a better quality service “ he believes deeply in those training programs, he also requests it. The National School of Tourism, located on the premises, offers quality training. He thinks that more of those training centers are needed, those centers need to be modernized, up-to-date, and decentralized on different regions, especially in the deep South.
Men are the representation of a good service
The good services are mainly represented by men. The importance of hospitality, smiling, dress code, availability and kindness has to be demonstrated. But the quality approach offers other advantages in terms of human resources management: better manage the workforce, better control ratios and international standards ... The Algerian government spends a huge budget on training programs for Tourism . Ali Djemaa thinks that the managers of the various sectors of tourism should take advantage of this bargain. "More than that, we have a great responsibility to support the training of human resources. To commit is to serve the business, certainly, but it is also serving his country".
